Student Civic Engagement

Welcome to the Office of Student Civic Engagement (OSCE)!
Our Mission...
The OSCE develops students into highly engaged citizens and talented community leaders who are
equipped to understand, appreciate, analyze, and address pressing social issues in an increasingly complex and diverse world.  The OSCE fosters student growth and development by partnering with nonprofit community organizations to challenge and nurture students through service-learning, volunteerism, civic and democratic engagement, and reflection.
Are you interested in challenging and fun volunteer opportunities both on and off campus?  Expanding your horizons through the Alternative Spring Break program by volunteering in a different region of
the country?  Learning about careers in the not-for-profit sector?  Voting in local, state, and national elections?  Developing  your leadership skills through service?  You can do all of this and more through the OSCE.

Believing that learning takes place both in and out of the classroom, RMU is committed to engaging students in life-changing community service in settings as diverse as food pantries, after school programs and nursing homes. Whether your interest is in mentoring at-risk kids, building affordable housing to benefit the working poor, developing local green space or donating blood at an on-campus blood drive, we have volunteer opportunities to appeal to all interests.  The OSCE encourages students to stop by and share ideas for new projects. We’ll work with you to bring your creative ideas to fruition.

Our door is open to you!  Stop by the OSCE and check us out!  You’ll be glad that you did!
