Resident Assistant (RA) Selection

Becoming a member of the para-professional staff in the Office of Residence Life can be an outstanding leadership experience. All potential candidates are required to attend one of the following RA Information sessions to be considered for selection on the 2013-2014 Resident Assistant (RA) Staff.

November 1 at 9pm- PA Suite in Sewall
November 7 at 1pm- International Suite in Sewall
November 14 at 9pm- PA Suite in Sewall
November 27 at 9pm- PA Suite Sewall
December 6 at 9pm- PA Suite in Sewall
January 15 at 1pm- Salem Conference Room
January 17 at 9pm- Salem Conference Room

During the times listed, current Residence Life Staff will be available to answer your questions about the RA position or the selection process. Attending one (1) information session is required to be considered for a student staff position. These sessions are a valuable source of information and advice as you begin the selection process. Applications are due January 18, 2013 to The Office of Residence Life.

January 18, 2013
Applications & References are due no later than 5:00pm in The Office of Residence Life.
Sign up for Interview and possible group process time upon completion of application.

January 21- February 1, 2013
Professional Staff Interviews
All candidates should attend a professional staff interview they schedule upon return of their application. All interviews will be conducted in The Office of Residence Life located in Washington Hall. Professional attire is appropriate for the interview.

February 4, 2013
Invitation to Continue
Based on the candidate performance in the interview phase, invitations will be sent to continue on to Group Process Evaluations. Every candidate will receive notice to his/her status in the process at this time.

February 6, 2013
Group Process Evaluations
7pm- 8:30pm TBA
9pm- 10:30pm TBA
Every candidate will need to attend one of the sessions. During these sessions, the candidates will participate in a series of group activities. All candidates must sign up to attend one of these sessions when they turn in their completed RA application in The Office of Residence Life. The purpose of this evening is to give current staff members a chance to evaluate candidates based on their ability to work within a group, communication skills, initiative, etc. Casual attire is appropriate for the evening's activities.

February 15, 2013
Hiring Decisions Announced
Decision letters will be available in The Office of Residence Life between 1pm and 5pm. Letters remaining can be picked up the following Monday.
