FYSP MENTOR POSITION
FYSP Mentor Position
First-Year Seminar Program Mentors are chosen based on their enthusiasm, attitude, past leadership accomplishments, ethical conduct and their ability to be a role model. The process begins in the fall each year when the mentor applications are made available in the Center for Student Success to interested students. Applications are returned with two references from faculty and/or staff members who are able to provide a reference based on the criteria above. The student must also interview with the Center for Student Success staff.
Qualifications:
- Maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA
- Good juidicial standing
- Completed mentor application with resume
- New Mentors Only- Two recommendation forms completed by RMU faculty/staff members
Responsibilities:
- Attend and participate in the First-Year Orientation Program
- Attend all scheduled seminar sessions
- E-mail class weekly and carbon copy your instructor
- Participate in a community service project, serving as the site student leader
- Organize and attend four all-freshmen social activities
- Arrange for at least two out-of-class meetings with each student in your seminar section
- Attend weekly meetings with your assigned instructor
- Attend weekly group mentor meetings
- Complete weekly mentor logs
