Early Success Program (ESP)

Online via Blackboard: August 10-16, 2018

On-ground at RMU: August 17-23, 2018

Welcome! Click here to complete the ESP incoming student form and RSVP for the Welcome Ceremony.

The goal of the Early Success Program (ESP) is to prepare a select group of incoming students for college-level courses and give these students the tools to thrive in a collegiate environment. This is accomplished through intentional immersion into the academic and social environments at Robert Morris University.

The program is designed to bridge the high school experience with our required First-Year Seminar Program. We acknowledge the ESP students as scholars and are confident this program will prepare them for the critical first year of college.

 ESP Orientation Week

By the end of the August session students will have a working knowledge of the University, their resources and support, and how to effectively navigate the first year. Specifically, students will focus on improving reading, writing, math, and study skills.
ESP students will also have the opportunity to interact with
 personnel from the
following University offices:

 ×  Academic Services  ×  Library
×  Career Center  ×  Public Safety
×  Center for Student Success  ×  Residence Life
×  Financial Aid  × Student Life
 ×  Global Engagement

Requirements During the First Year

The Early Success Program spans the first year and affords students the opportunity to learn and practice methods necessary for college success.

August 2018: Students are required to complete four (4) online modules and the week of on-ground orientation. Each online module is built to be completed in about two to three hours, and will help students to begin thinking about college in depth. Each day of the on-ground orientation will break down critical concepts and provide practical skills for academic and social success.

Fall 2018: Students will progress through the First-Year Seminar Program (FYSP) that all first-year students must complete. Students will meet monthly with their assigned ESP Leader and Coordinator in the Center for Student Success, and must attend three (3) out of five (5) scheduled ESP workshops to be
eligible for early registration*.

Spring 2019: Students will continue to meet regularly with their Counselor, will be required to either join a student group or participate in work study, and must attend three (3) out of five (5) designated Colonial Scholar workshops to be eligible for early registration for the upcoming Fall 2019 semester.
