Campus Recreation Staff

Armand Buzzelli has served as the Director of Campus Recreation since joining RMU in 2009. He holds a bachelor of arts from Washington & Jefferson College, and an M.B.A., M.S., and Ph.D. from Robert Morris University. He directs the operation of the Student Recreation and Fitness Center and the daily functions of the campus recreation department including the club sports program, intramural sports, fitness programs, health and wellness, training, and facility management. He is certified by the American Council on Exercise as a personal trainer, and is an active member of the National Intramural and Recreational Sports Association, having served on their research and assessment committee from 2015-2018.

Sarah Cave has served as the Fitness Operations Manager since joining RMU in 2017. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Recreation and Leisure Studies from Gordon College. Sarah oversees daily fitness operations and group fitness classes for campus recreation. She is certified by the American Council on Exercise as a personal trainer, and is also certified in Spinning, Les Mills Bodypump, Tabata Bootcamp, and Escape Training. Sarah is also an active member of NIRSA.

Mike Joseph, Ph.D. has served as our General Manager of Collegiate Club Hockey since 2017. He has over 25 years of ice hockey coaching experience. Joseph was the inaugural coach of the program from 1995-2001, amassing a record of 76-25-11, which included three Western Pennsylvania College Hockey Association (WPCHA) Championships, and one Division III
ACHA National Championship in 2002. Joseph was named coach of the year in the WPCHA in 1997-1998. Following his initial tenure with RMU, Joseph served as the head coach of the NCAA Division III Chatham College women’s team from 2002-2003, and Baldwin High School boys team from 2005-
2007. Just one season into his second stint with RMU, Joseph promptly guided a team that experienced three consecutive losing seasons to a College Mid-American Hockey (CHMA) championship and an appearance in the ACHA national tournament, while posting a 23-5-1 record. Joseph was named the 2014-2015 CHMA coach of the year for his efforts. Joseph holds both a bachelors of science and doctor of philosophy degrees in chemistry from Queens University in Ontario.
