Campus Ministry Association

WELCOME from the Campus Ministry Association,

The middle-eastern word for peace is “shalom” in Hebrew and “salaam” in Arabic.  The roots of this Semitic word are tied to wholeness and integrity in one’s being.  As part of a common greeting, it is a wish that the other being greeted experience wholeness in his/her life – a sense of
well-roundedness and completeness.
To wish someone “shalom”, or “salaam” is to wish them “roundness and soundness” in their lives . . . It is part of a wonderful greeting and one of our words of welcome to you!

As you make the journey of higher education, the Campus Ministry Association (CMA) would like your time at RMU to be well-rounded and complete in every way!

We know that you are receiving a quality education; that there is an abundance of social and co-curricular activities for you; and that RMU has excellent intercollegiate athletics, club sport, and recreation programs, too. In an increasingly challenging and complicated collegiate life, the members of CMA are also interested in helping to insure that you have the spiritual resources for this portion of your life’s journey as well.

There are more than a dozen representatives from the Campus Ministry Association active on campus, providing all kinds of programs for individuals of many different backgrounds. We have leaders from many denominations to answer questions, listen to, and talk with you, share joys and sorrows, and lead you to experience a greater spiritual life while you are here. Please explore our section of the website to learn more and to engage your spirit! Be round and sound as you explore all the dimensions of your life!

I am the Reverend John C. R. Silbert, current chairperson of the RMU Campus Ministry Association. I look forward to meeting you and hearing of your participation in our various programs and activities as well as utilizing the resources of our membership.

Please feel free to contact the individual members of the Association directly, or contact us through the Student Life Office or via e-mail at campusministry@rmu.edu.

Shalom!  Salaam!  Peace be with you!
